Agreed. Where will this gobsmackingly ridiculous "honesty" end?

Expect the following caption at the front of the midweek lottery show:
"Viewers should be aware that the audience applause on this show is prerecorded because the truth is we couldn't actually get that many people in the tiny studio and let's face it, we'd have problems getting people to come along in the first place".

BTW did you know that Doctor Who and the Tardis doesn't actually exist? To think the BBC has been pulling the wool over our eyes all these years...

Thanks for your response. I am sure you will resolve all these issues in time and I look forward to seeing the development of the interface.

Best of luck, and happy new year.

Also, the issue of the right and left-ness of the site ;) I know what you mean. I've been trying to build an interface which can allow the concept of folders (within folders, within folders, etc) which has only been possible with the directory structure on the right - and the content on the left of it. Though, when we launch the widget, this may take a more 'iPod' UI 'sliding' interface which will give us much more flexiblity on the layouts available. (There's a 'true' iPhone/iPod Touch UI on the way too :) )

An example of more work in progress on the widget can be seen at http://blogs.opml.org/koz

cheers! :)

ps: please excuse the typos ;)

Hi Adrian,

Thanks for the feedback.

Thought it might not seem it, the site is still very much in constant development, especially regarding the front end interface :) . It has been my focus (as sole developer) to create a stable platform for people discover and organise the feeds they like, first.

Based on this platform, the underlying RSS and OPML data which every member creates can actually provide the means to create any interface you like, on any device. :) We think this is one of the keys to the platform.

I have built a few different interfaces already which are not fully 'public' yet, but serve as a means for me to 'prove' the platform. This is still beta, after all ;)

A couple of simple examples of /work in progress/ interfaces can be found at http://demo.podcast.com and http://podcast.com/v2 (not emphasis on w.i.p ;) )

Re: the 'web 2.0'-ness of the site, I assume you mean the use of AJAX around the site. This was to enoable the ability to be listening to a podcast on the Flash player, while still allowing actual use of the site, without reloading the page and thus interrupting the playback of an mp3. It actually makes it very useful to 'graze' feeds and epsodes you like, while consuming them. As i said before though, there will be cases for a differnt approach to the UI and also we intend to implement a simple API to allow people to create their own interfaces to manage their collections/libraries of podcasts and also share their playlists of single episodes they like. Widgets are on the way too, which will allow people to 'take away' and display/share their directories and playlists too.

We certainly plan to make things even simpler for everyone. And we don't think we're stupid ;) heh.

Thanks again for taking the time to provide some feedback. Without it, we can't build the tools and platform that *everyone* - or atleast as many as possible - can enjoy and gin value from.

Kind Regards,
Kosso

Adrian, Kosso runs this site. Mail him as I bet he'll take your comments on board. Oddly enough I found the same, I'm a techno simpleton and useless at anything that isn't obvious.

Have you looked at Podcast Nation? I'd be interested to see how you found the usability there.

I had a bunch of invite e-mails this autumn from people whom I could never suspect to invite me to such network.
So, now the mystery is solved.
I wonder did they thought about consequences and community reaction to this dirty trick?
